Ubisoft presents #LadyWoodpart2 featuring Aisha Tyler
Technical delies the quality has dropped from live tv to the web stream Apparently Spike decided that reruns of CSI would be better...
We start off with Jerry Cantrel from Alice in Chains. They are advertising RockSmith. I'm not really impressed that a RockStar can play his own song in a video game. Is this the game that you can use your own guitar? More information please. .25 points for Alice in Chains. I didn't learn anything about the game, because why?
Aisha Tyler's jokes are falling flat....again -.5 points.
Splinter Cell Blacklist...The poor man's Metal Gear Solid is next. The presentation is lacking. They are not going full screen for the videos. No Gameplay was shown. It looked like an episode of 24 on speed. 0.25 points.
Rayman Legends. This game was supposed to come out last year as an exclusive for the WiiU. but they delayed it and likely broke a contract with Nintendo so the game could arrive on more Platforms. It is a cute cartoon platformer with lovely visuals 0 points. This game was already supposed to be released, and because they were a dick to Nintendo.
The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot. A free to play fantasy game where you build your own dungeon, and then raid your friends. You can try it now at www.themightyquest.com This looks fun and it is free so 1 point.
South Park: Stick of Truth. I think this game was supposed to have come out, but THQ's financial trouble held it up. It looks really funny and fun to play in the South Park world, but Cartman is right "Coming this Holiday Season or some Holiday season...or whenever you know how video games are" .5 points
A new game with cars fleeing from cops. Didn't we just see Need For Speed? This is clearly prerendered and not gameplay footage. It's called "The Crew" and looks no different than EA's driving game. Ok we are going to see a demo. There is a large open world which looks interesting. This looks like it might be fun, but more tablet integration. 1 point
Watch Dogs. We have seen this game several times now...Is this gameplay or live action? I'm not honestly not sure. It looks like it had a seamless transition to prerendered footage .25 points for not showing anything new game play wise.
Just dance 2014...Apparently this is an annual franchise now. I'ts a bit disappointing they didn't bring professional dancers out to show us how to play this game. .5 points for keeping that short.
Rabbids Invasion. A television show and game that you watch and play somehow? Seems like it will be fun for the kids. .5 points
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. You are a pirate. A very good looking prerendered trailer is shown of a barfight, some sailing, and a sword fight on a boat. It's a shame that this game is now an annual release. It makes each individual release less special because of this. .75 points for cool looking game and pirates, but not a full point because of annual releases.
A Sci-Fi game with bikes. A pair of new Trials games. 0.5 points Not a new IP and the previous games have failed to pull me in, but the new setting is cool
An open world RPG from Massive Entertainment. A game about an viral outbreak. It looks like it leans heavily on exploration. Hopefully its something other than zombies. This looks interesting and really fun. As it is a third person action game. My current favorite genre. This game looks amazing. Hands down. This is a game I could see myself playing with others. Hopefully it's not subscription based. It's called The Division! PS4 and XBOX One This looks amazing. Game of the show so far! 1 point
Supporting the WiiU +1 point
Total Score 7 points
+The Division
+The Crew
+Kept Just Dance Brief
+Strongest 3rd party support for WiiU
-Terrible Start and Bad Writing and Jokes for Aisha Tyler
-Annual Assassin's Creed
-Acknowledgement that South Park might not come out this year

EA Gives us a little something for everyone...except NHL fans.
I want to see them do justice for Star Wars, and show some IPs as well at what BioWare has to show.
The Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare kicks off the show.It changes the classic tower defense game into a multiplayer third person action game. Creative assuredly, but the focus on online multiplayer is a huge deterrent.. I'm more interested in Plants vs Zombies 2. Also how did the plants get out of my garden and walk around. I surely didn't plant them. The plants have become self aware lol. This actually does like it could be a lot of fun. And Peggle 2 was announced. Pop gets 1 point. Though they didn't mention which platforms this game will be on. IGN's Andrew Goldfarb reports: Garden Warfare will be available on X BOX One and 360, but I feel like this will end up on every platform imaginable.
TitanFall. We just saw this...Not an exclusive it turns out. It will be available on 360, X Box One, and PC. This almost makes me want to take half a point away from Microsoft, but I won't. 0 Points
All games shown from this point will use new engines.
OMG Star Wars Battlefron on Frostbite! 1 Point!!
Racing game? Burnout or Need For Speed? It's a new Need For Speed. The only one I liked was Need For Speed the Run. They are touting online features. Personally I prefer playing games in person with people. There is also Tablet integration. (Woopdedoo Basil). There is an intersting twist where single player races can transform into multiplayer races seamlessly 0.5Points. Also apparently there is a Need For Speed Movie they brought out the director.
Bioware: Dragon Age Inquisition! I loved the first two Dragon Age games, They were probably the most enjoyable High Fantasy RPG's I have ever played and it appears player choices will have even more of an impact than before, and Morgan returns! the games is set for a fall 2014 release. 1 point!
Uhoh. Mr Sports just walked on stage...Show NHL it's the only one I care about. There giving the NBA another go after cancelling the last 3 attempts. Who wants to take bets if this will actually come out. The NBA2K series has been dominating for years so much so the 2011 edition made G4's top 100 games of all time. They bring out a basketball player. 0 Points I don't have faith EA will release actually release a Basketball game.
Madden ok...Someone will have to tell me if what they talked about are big deals. It looks great. I will give it that. .25 points because we know this game comes out every year.
FIFA. See the Madden topic for all of the same reasons. .25 points
They bring out Drake...to talk about FIFA. Pointless celebrity appearance...I understand that these games are popular, but my care level couldn't be lower. I almost feel like you get ripped off if you buy this game every year, because the updates are often minimal. This year looks like a year to buy though.
They are not showing the crowd. These cheers are more fake than a pre tapped wrestling show.
More celebrates UFC voice, and a couple of fighters... Another franchise I don't care about. I don't'like the UFC president's attitude...0.25 points Also celebrities are not special if you bring them out for every other game. You have had 7 already. No NHL... -.25 points
Battlefield 4....Again just we just saw this at Microsoft. 64 player multiplayer. The graphics look like they are taking a hit when supporting this many players. The scope of the level is impressive. Again with the tablet integration...A building the players were fighting in collapses due to artillery fire. .75 points Impressive, but not interested.
Mirror's Edge 2. The sequel to the cult classic fee running park our game. Is shown in a final tease. 1 point
Final Score 4.75 Since they hold the rights to Star Wars it would have been nice to get a better idea of their plans for the franchise
+Dragon Age Inquisition
+Garden Warfare looks a lot of fun
+It's a nice gesture to the fans to make a sequel to Mirror's Edge
+A bit of something for everyone

Did X-Box One Answer our burning questions?
Are we going to get more today then TV, Sports and Call of Duty's dog Bro?
This is a bit of a surprise starting of with Kojima's Productions. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain! New game play is shown. Open world and horseback riding. Real time weather effects New ways to hide. It appears more free flowing and less scripted than previous games in the series. In the trailer it is Kiefer Sutherland playing Snake, so it seems like I was right that this was not Kojima trolling us. Outer Heaven is shown. The story has finally come full circle! This game is coming to X-Box One! A game that seriously has my interest. Not an exclusive, but an awesome games .75 points
A new model model of the 360 is revealed. Smaller and slimmer. Taking a page out of PlayStation Plus, by offering two free games a month to X-Box gold subscribers. World of Tanks is coming to 360, this is a non mover for me as I am not interested in online centered games. It's a popular PC title for sure., but it is free to play, and this is not something I think Microsoft has embraced before. Max the Curse of Brotherhood, looks to be a puzzle platformer. Darksouls II is shown, this medievil themed series that is too difficult for me to get into, but this game does appeal gamers looking for a challenge. +1 Point
All games from this point on will be for XBox One.
Ryse: Son of Rome An Roman themed game. The trailer is a group of soldiers storming a beach in almost a Normandy style. The graphics are impressive. In addition to combat the player will also take command his soldiers. This is very violent as the player stabbed many enemies through the throat. This is from Crytek. It is an exclusive for XBox One. As a side note it is nice to see them do something that is not another Crysis. This is a point for X Box. An intriguing exclusive game. 1 point
Killer Instinct was shown as predicted. Another Exclusive. I've never played this series so I don't know what the big deal is. I do know it is a fighting game series that was popular in the 90's, but the crowd seemed excited for this one. It deserves A point.
The next presenter is Insomnicac!? Presenting an exlusive!? I'm shocked they would work with someone besides Sony after the way EA leeched all of the creativity out of the recently released FUSE. Lets just hope it's not a first person shooter...Sunset Overdrive. A stylized open world shooter, it sounds like Destiny meets Boarderlands. An Online focused game, but it looks cartoonish and fun. The weapons look creative like Ratchet and Clank. 1.75 points 1 point for taking away one of Sony's toys. The game gets .75 because of the online focus which means I likely will not play it.
A game about racing cars. Fortza 5. They bring an actual car on stage. It looks pretty. And there is an asynchronous multi-player. It dose not look as fun as Fortza Horizon, but I will give this game .5 points.
Minecraft is coming to X-Box One. No points, because even though this game is popular. It has zero interest to me and it is all ready on 360. 0 points
Quantum Break another exclusive. An expolision happens and a man stops time and saves a woman It didn't even look like a game, but it does look interesting. .25 points for being neat, but not showing anything.
An exclusive episodic murder mystery. Looks promising, but this was just a flashy tease. Hopefully this adapts to player choice like Heavy Rain or the Walking Dead .5 points
Project Spark? An exclusive. It works with Smart Glass, the technology in your Windows tablet or phone. that interacts with your X Box. It is a three dimensional Little Big Planet World Builder. With Simple Mod Nation Racers creative tools. An evolution of a great idea, and it looks like a fun cooperative ideas. 1 point.
Smart Glass returns. I really don't see the need for a second screen that displays stats. Matchmaking was shown than Killer Instinct was demoed. It would have been more entertaining if they had actually fight against each other. They are partnering with Twitch for sharing video.
Crimson Dragon. An exclusive from the creator of Panzar Dragoon. Technical difficulties for an interesting game. There is no sound .5 points.
Dead Rising 3: Not featuring Frank West. Is this a mistake? Or will Capcom release the Frank West edition a few months later? It looks good, and a 3rd party exclusive to boot Even more interactive than the previous games in the series. There had to be thousands of zombies on screen at a given time and there was no slowdown when dealing with everything that is going on on screen. Grand Theft Auto Zombieland. But apparently there are some options in the game you can only access with Smart Glass. .75 points because I don't want to be shackled to a second screen, and Capcom will likely release a better version a few months after release. Project Spark was good in that was a collaborative experience, but this forces the player to use to devices to play a game.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. A open world fantasy game, but not an exclusive as this game will be on PS4 and PC. There will be Kinect and SmartGlass integration, but it will not be intrusive like Dead Rising. It will be for menus and inventory management. I am looking forward to this game, but as it is not an exclusive it doesn't earn a full point .75 points
EA shows Battlefield 4. A modern military first person shooter. The crowd boos, and their are technical difficulties and the game wont play. -.5 points as this is the genre I dislike and technical difficulties. It's flashy, but all of these modern military first person shooters look the same to me. When they show Call of Duty I wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you put the games side by side. They got a timed exclusive DLC of the first map pack
A rouglike game is shown. It is an exclusive. The title is called Below. It does not impress me at all. .25points
Balck Tusk Studio's game. A tease is shown with a character repelling from a skyscraper .25 I don't like these teases.
Halo 5 is teased we see Master Chief, but i would have liked to see a sweet trailer like they showed for Halo 4 last year. Halo would score higher if it had shown more than a teasertrailer, because Halo 4 was the first time I had cared about the series since Halo 2. .5 points
Price: $499. The crowd boos. No subsidesd pricing model either. To be released in November That is too expensive. I was hoping for a $399 price. -1.5 points. This is too expensive, and if I can't afford your console I won't be playing your exclusive games. Take out the Kinect and save me a hundred buck, because I've seen no meaningful game play utilize it yet. Aside from Harmonix's no Kinect Gameplay has excited me
A game from Respawn. There are Mechs and soldiers. It is a Sci-Fi FPS Exclusive. The title is TiatinFall. It is an exclusive that looks graphically impressive, but really just looks like Call of Duty Future warfare.... .75 points. Perhaps I'm still sore after the price point. Update: This game is not a X BOX One Exclusive. It will be on 360 and PC as well.
No ties. Why don't the Microsoft executives wear ties, and the blazers with t-shirts look really classy... This is the biggest dog and pony show in the games industry. This the game industry's chance to put their best foot forward. So try to class it up -.5 points for Geoff Kieghly presenting himself more professionally than anyone at Microsoft.
But I'll counter this by giving them .5 points for not showing Call of Duty.
They did not address the online DRM or Used game concerns -.5 points
Total Score 8 points.
+Games Microsoft brought the games with full force
+I didn't have to see Call of Duty
+Dead Rising 3
-Price is to Expensive
-Didn't address online DRM or Used game sales or sharing
-Forced Smart Glass Integration
-
All right Sony the gauntlet was thrown. It is still your show to lose. Show us more games, and give us that $399 price point, and you will have my money this holiday season.
Konami Kicks Off With the E3 preshow!
Konami press event is in the bag and out of it we had got a few new nuggets of information. They started the with casual games. A facebook based social game based on baseball was shown. Followed by a slot machine and poker mobile games. None of these were particularly interesting, but social and mobile have been gaining market share in recent years, so it is understandable that this would be
addressed. Thankfully this was a brief and did not take up to much time.
The console games began with Pro Evolution Soccer 2014. I'm not much of a sports game fan aside from NHL. So I don't have a much of an opinion here. They demonstrated a new engine, but it didn't look like it was close to completion. As the character models were still looking incomplete. We'll see if this can steal any of FIFA's thunder this year.
Next we saw the game I was looking forward to most: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. There has been some controversy surrounding this game with the reveal that long time voice of Solid Snake / Big Boss, David Hayter would not be reprising his role. The new voice of Snake was revealed as Mr. Jack Bauer himself, Kiefer Sutherland. Mr Sutherland is a fine actor and I'm sure that he will have a fine performance, but I would be lying if I said I was not disappointed to see the David Hayter not be apart of the game. Is Hideo Kojima trying to pull a fast one on us like with Sons of Liberty? My gut says this is the genuine deal, but their are some conspiracy theories floating around out there.
Finally we were treated to the debut trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2. We knew this game was in development so it was not much of a surprise, but the story is taking an interesting twist the battle for Dracula being taken in to the present day. An interesting idea and sure to be a fun game. The first Lords of Shadows was good, but not great. Hopefully the series continues to move forward, but I'll put my vote in for a challenging side-scroller in the style of the NES original.
Well that is the wrap up of Konami's event. I'll be doing these for the rest of the press events on Monday.

Looking Behind...
Naughty Dog was expanding motion capture technology with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on PS3. The improved technique of performance capture would

Another exciting change of this generation has been narratives that react to player choice. Telltale's The Walking Dead, and Bioware's Mass Effect Trilogy and Dragon Age provided decision points that effect the story in a unique way. It created exciting discussions as no one's experience was exactly the same.I found that these games would fill the drought of JRPG's that took a long time to show up on the system.
I have always been a fan of Japanese games. I wasn't following the business as closely back then so I had not realized that many Japanese developers were struggling with the higher demand of HD visuals, and many had gone to handhelds to make these games. I would later find these on my PSP and pick up a Nintendo DS to play many of these creative titles.
No retrospective of this generation of gaming would be complete with out plastic instruments. In 2007 I had fallen in love with with Harmonix's rhythm games Guitar Hero, Frequency, and Amplitude had become addictions as well as Sony's Singstar. When I found out about Rock Band a game that combined Guitar Hero, Singstar, and added drums it was love at first sight. This game would become the focus of almost
every party or group gathering for the next several years. It was unfortunate that by the time RockBand 3 added keyboard it would seem that the bright burn of the living room rock-star had faded into obscurity.
I did debate between a Wii and X Box 360. Halo 4 looked amazing, and I had a lot of faith in Harmonix and couldn't wait to play Dance Central. Nostalgia won out though and I went with the Wii. I had not had a Nintendo console since the original NES. The virtual console. But it was The Legend of Zelda: Skyword Sword that drew me in. This game proved that motion control can work non casual games. Look forward to my top 10 game of the generation coming soon.
